Loraine Lien, of Montevideo, died on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 94.  Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald S. McKee officiating.  Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.  Visitation will be Monday, May 9, 2016 from 5- 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at the Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.  Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to services on Tuesday.

Loraine Maybelle (Severson) Lien was born on June 14, 1921 in Montevideo, MN to Clarence and Mabel (Olson) Severson.  She attended school in Montevideo and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1939.  On July 16, 1944 she was united in marriage to James Lien at Brono Lutheran Church near Montevideo by Rev. J.M. Mason.  The family moved to a farm north of Montevideo where they farmed.  Loraine and James moved into Montevideo in the mid 1980's.

Loraine enjoyed playing cards, quilting and baking.  She tended a large vegetable garden and canned most of the produce she harvested.    Loraine also was an active member of Mandt Lutheran Church and taught Sunday School there for many years.  She enjoyed traveling and took many trips to Norway.

She is survived by three daughters: Barbara (Lyndon) Nordaune of Glenwood, MN, Virginia (John) Hirschi of Rapid City, SD, and Mary Ann Dirksen of Rockford, IL; grandchildren: Dennis (Tina) Nordaune, Jeffrey (Brooke) Nordaune, Laurie (Erick) Larson, Brandy Bardeleben, Dawn Marshall, Andrea Lusczak, and Stan Dirksen; great-grandchildren: Marit and Kearby Larson, Oriana, Mark, Gabriel and Ivory Nordaune, Tyler and Cooper Nordaune, Justin and Amelia Bardeleben, and Abigail and Allison Marshall; sister, Marjorie Lee of Montevideo; sister-in-law, Mildred Severson of Montevideo; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her  in death were her parents; her husband, James in 2001; a brother, Roland Severson; a sister, Dona Borstad; and a son-in-law, David Dirksen.
