Loren C. Malecek

Loren Malecek, of Dawson, died Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at his home under hospice care at the age of 57.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 11, 2012, at 2:00 PM, at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson with Pastor Kendall Stelter and Pastor John Biggs officiating; organist, Chris Lehne accompanied the singing of  “Rock Of Ages” and “On Eagle’s Wings” and special music were songs “When You Come Back To Me Again” by Garth Brooks and “My Way” by Elvis Presley.  Casketbearers were: Kein  Malecek, Matt Malecek, Kelly Mortenson, Kori Mortenson, Kris Mortenson, Darren Malecek and interment was in the Dawson Cemetery.

Visitation was Saturday for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Loren Charles Malecek was born May 13, 1954, at Granite Falls, MN, the son of Charles and Selma (Thurston) Malecek.  He was baptized April 29, 1959, at Gary, SD.  He attended school in Canby and Madison and graduated from Madison High School in 1972.  He worked for Henry’s Candy Co. for several years, was a salesman in Oregon, worked at the prison in Appleton, at AMPI in Dawson, and at American Surplus in Montevideo.  He was united in marriage with Vicki Veland at Forest Hills, GA, on May 1, 2001.  Loren enjoyed woodworking, traveling, picking, Elvis memorabilia, and antique cars.

Loren is survived by his wife, Vicki of Dawson; daughter, Christie Ransom of Sartell; 2 sons: Zach Malecek of Cedar Falls, IA, and Ryan (Jackie) Malecek of Waterloo, IA; 6 grandchildren and 6 step-grandchildren; mother, Selma Malecek of the Sylvan Court Nursing Home in Canby, MN; sister, Cheryl (Norm) Mortenson of Canby; 5 brothers: Jerome (Lisa) of Dawson, Richard (Sue) of Elk River, Ron (Colleen) of Rogers, Merle of Dawson, and Juel (Teri) Salveson of Finland, MN; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Preceding him in death was his father, Charles Malecek on May 21, 2006.
