Lorraine Christenson of Montevideo died on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Rosewood Senior Living in Montevideo at the age of 92.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 10, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Montevideo at 11:00 AM. Father Paul Timmerman will officiate, and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Frances Lorraine (Gulden) Christenson was born October 27, 1925 in Montevideo to Lloyd Sr. and Florence (Schall) Gulden. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Lorraine was united in marriage to Galen Christenson on May 11, 1944 in Milbank, South Dakota. Galen and Lorraine made their home in Montevideo, where they lived their entire life, and raised their four children.
Lorraine had a loving and gentle nature, with a great sense of humor. She loved to tell jokes and share a good laugh. Lorraine had a passion for music, and she and Galen enjoyed dancing together. They enjoyed horses and going on motorcycle rides around the country side, stopping at a few casinos along the way. Lorraine was artistic and enjoyed crafting. Her family was her life, and she loved spending time with them.
Lorraine is survived by her children; Kathy Amundson, Mark (Kathy) Christenson, Lynn (Doug) Woltjer, and Sara (Michael) Toov; grandchildren, Kelly (Brad) Bowne, Ryan (Becky) Amundson, Angela (Kyle) Kranz, Adam (Katelyn) Christenson, Holly (Dain) Woltjer Pinger, Joseph Woltjer, Matthew Toov (Fiancée Melissa Klecker), Jessalyn Toov (special friend Brandon Hill); 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Glorrietta Gilbertson, and Patricia (Jerry) Jones; and brothers Lloyd Gulden Jr., and Paul (Joy) Gulden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Galen in 2001; her parents; infant son Paul Christenson; son-in-law, Milton Amundson; brother-in-law, Harris Gilbertson; and sister-in-law, Vivian Gulden.
The family would like to make a special thank you to Rosewood Senior Living and Rice Hospice for their caring and support of Lorraine throughout her final years.
