Lorraine Knight, of Montevideo, died Sunday, September 25, 2016, at Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital at the age of 80.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo. Visitation with family will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Thelma Lorraine (Hegg) Knight was born on March 21, 1936 in Thief River Falls, MN to Tosten and Martha (Hjelle) Hegg. She grew up in the Milan and Montevideo area. She graduated from Montevideo High School. Following high school she attended nursing school in Minneapolis. Lorraine married Gary Knight in June of 1957 and they made their home in the Twin Cities raising three boys. They moved to Michigan when Gary made a career change. After Gary passed away Lorraine returned to the Montevideo with her good friend Barb.
Family remembers Lorraine as a very creative person who didn’t like to cook but loved to try new artistic projects. She drew her grandchildren’s portraits when they were age 2 and had them hanging on her wall. She also liked to quilt and sew and if someone came a long with a new craft project she was the first one to try it. Lorraine loved her coffee and visiting with friends. She would welcome people into her home at any time.
Lorraine is survived by her sons: Brad (Sue) Knight of Grand Rapids, MI, Chuck (Laurie) Knight of Lebanon, NJ, Mike (Rhonda) Knight of Chaska, MN; 11 grandchildren, great-grandchildren; sisters Marlene Ridens of Montevideo and Elaine (Dick) Erickson of Milan; and other extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gary Knight and her special friend, Barb Damrow.
