Lorraine Winslow, of Dawson, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson at the age of 89.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd. Pastor Lori Wold will officiate and interment will be at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens, rural Montevideo.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 5-7:00 PM at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson with a prayer service at 6:30 PM.
Lorraine Ardis Winslow was born the youngest of six children to Fred and Ida Tesnow in Dawson, MN on September 26, 1924. She attended country school District 90 in rural Boyd, MN through 8th grade. Lorraine was united in marriage to Virgil Winslow on November 5, 1943 in Boyd, MN. Virgil and Lorraine made their home on a farm and raised four daughters. Lorraine was a farm wife and was a very hard worker. She enjoyed baking, gardening, cooking, canning, sewing, and she had a special talent for shopping. She liked to redecorate her home often and loved to watch tv in her later years. Lorraine was active in Ladies Aide and Church Circle at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd.
Lorraine is survived by three daughters: Gail Tongen and her husband, Douglas of Hutchinson, MN; Ardis Christensen and her husband, Keith of Madison, MN; and Janet Stratmoen and her husband, Keith of Boyd, MN; eleven grandchildren: Allison (Chad) Dansby, Jessica Hunsinger, Doug (Tami) Sampson, Robyn (Andy) Abner, Joshua Larson, Cassy Christensen, Keifer (Laurel) Stratmoen, Brett (Larisa) Stratmoen, Preston (Jordan) Stratmoen, Patrick (Mandy) Thorsteinson, and Jason Thorsteinson; 2 step-grandchildren: Bryan (Pule) Christensen and Robyn (Osman) Janneh; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucille Pray of Alexandria, MN; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceding Lorraine in death are her husband, Virgil in 1993; her daughter, Marsha; her parents; brother, Harlow Tesnow; three sisters: Myrtle Banet, Fern Lachelt, and Eleanor Kelm; and son-in-law, Dave Flaagan.
