Louis Helmer Stay

January 3, 1913 — October 15, 1993


Louis Helmer Stay was born on January 3, 1913 in Swift Co., Minnesota to John and Regina Stay.  He grew up in rural Swift Co. and attended rural schools in District #91.  On January 27, 1943 he was united in marriage to Amy Evenson at the Big Bend Parsonage.  He farmed for many years in Swenoda Township in Swift Co. and worked as a mechanic for several years before retiring.  He had been a member of the N.F.O. and the Eagles, was a long-time member of Mandt Lutheran Church, and was currently a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo.

Louis died on October 15, 1993 at the Chippewa Co.-Montevideo Hospital at the age of 80.  He is survived by his wife - Amy of Montevideo; by a daughter -
Lois and her husband Garald Johnson of St. Croix Falls, Wi.; by a son - Randal and his wife Lynn of Albert Lea,Mn.; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; by sisters - Selma Haskins and Francis Danielson - both of Minneapolis: as well as by numerous niees and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, by a daughter Cheryl; by brothers - Walter, Robert, Ralph, Henry and Julius, and by a sister - Lillian Edstrom.


Services - Monday October 18, 1993   10:30 A.M.   Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Lloyd Tobiassen officiating.  Burial in the Mandt Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening and with the family from 2 - 4 P.M. on Sunday  at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
