Louise Mathiason, of Montevideo, died on Wednesday, August 13, 2003 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 93.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, August 18, 2003 at 1:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church in Montevideo with Pastor John Runyan and Pastor Paul Losik officiating. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Louise (Klaahsen) Mathiason was born on November 4, 1909 in Wrenshall, MN to Ben and Della (Weigmann) Klaahsen. As a young girl, she moved with her family to the Hancock, MN area, where she graduated from high school. She attended teacher’s training in Benson, MN and taught in rural schools in Swift Co. for five years. On May 29, 1936 she was united in marriage to Robert Mathiason in Hancock. They were active members of Calvary Baptist Church in Montevideo for many years. She had been a resident of Brookside Manor in Montevideo and had recently become a resident at Luther Haven Nursing Home.
She is survived by a daughter, Darlene Loewens and her husband Jim of Brooklyn Park, MN; 5 grandchildren: Nancy Aiken and her husband Myles; Lori Molohon and her husband Paul; Vicki Mathiason; Jamie Robinson and her husband Troy; and Donald Loewens; 7 great grandchildren: Rachel, Stephen, William and Timothy Aiken; Emily and April Molohon and Tyler Robinson; a daughter-in-law, Alice Mathiason of Brooklyn Park, MN; a sister, Margaret Klaahsen of Montevideo as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert in 1971; a son Willard; a great granddaughter, Elizabeth Molohon; 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
