Louise Swenson, Montevideo, died on Thursday, November 30, 2000 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 82.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, December 4, 2000 at 1:30 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Warren Broughton officiating. Burial will be in the Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with the family present from 6-8:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:30 P.M.
Louise M (Eichhorst) Swenson was born on August 5, 1918 in Downers Grove, IL to Louis and Mary (Hogrefe) Eichhorst. She was baptized at Lace Lutheran Church in Downers Grove, IL. At the age of 6 months she moved with her family to Montevideo, MN. She was confirmed at St Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo in 1931 and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1935. She was employed by NSP from 1936 - 1942, at which time she moved to Chicago. She worked for R.R. Donnelly & Sons as an Executive Secretary from 1942 to 1949. She then moved back to Montevideo and worked at NSP until her retirement in 1983. On November 27, 1959 she was united in marriage to Leonard Swenson at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, the Martha Bible Study Group, the Agape Club, a Sunday School teacher, a prayer chain member, a lunch bunch member and a member of the Business and Professional Women. She enjoyed crosswords, reading, crocheting and playing cards.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard; two sons: Dan Swenson of Beaverton, OR and Scott Swenson of Fridley, MN; two grandchildren: Christopher and Stephanie Swenson; two brothers: Ervin Eichhorst and his wife Nora of Montevideo and Louis Eichhorst and his wife Marion of Spicer, MN; one sister, Alice Lanes and her husband Arthur of Montevideo; one brother-in-law, Wilmer “Buck” Jenneke of Montevideo; as well as by nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Elsie Jenneke; and two brothers in infancy.
