Lowell George Armstrong

Lowell Armstrong, 83, of Montevideo, died March 25, 1996 at the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 28, 1996 at 1:30 P.M. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church.  Rev. Warren Broughton and Rev. Douglas Olson will officiate and interment will be at Mandt Lutheran Cemetery, rural Montevideo.

Visitation will be held Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M.  There will also be visitation at the church for one hour before services on Thursday.

Lowell George Armstrong was born October 10, 1912 at Benson, MN the son of George and Emma (Narum) Armstrong.  He attended school and grew to adulthood in Grace Township, Chippewa County, MN.  Lowell was united in marriage with Mildred Gilbertson August 31, 1938 at the Big Bend Parsonage.  They made their home in Montevideo where he worked at Blue Ribbon Bakery.  They moved to Mandt Township, where they farmed before moving back into Montevideo in 1968.  Lowell worked for the City of Montevideo with the Park Department until he retired in 1978.  He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and a former member of Mandt Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred; three daughters: Janet (Armstrong) Harrell of Montevideo, Joan Lewis and her husband Ron of Minneapolis, MN, and Sharon Goodroad of Mounds View, MN; one son, Gary Armstrong of Hinckley, MN; seven grandchildren: Kevin Lewis, Scott Goodroad, Heath Armstrong, Aaron Harrell, Greg Tesdahl, Holly and Joe Walters, and Brad Lewis; three great-grandchildren: Ashley and Alison Walters and Jonathon Lewis; one sister Hazel Christians and her husband Bill of Montevideo; one brother, Walter Armstrong of Montevideo; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers: Myron Armstrong and Harlan Armstrong.
