Lowell Knutson

Lowell Knutson, of Montevideo, died Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Meadow Creek in Montevideo at the age of 79.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  Rev. Tim Ehling will officiate and interment will be at Black Oak Cemetery, rural Montevideo.

Visitation will Wednesday, October 15 from 5-7:00 PM at the Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo and at the church for one hour before services.

Lowell Richard Knutson was born September 9, 1935 in Sparta Township, Chippewa County, MN the son of Claus and Alice (Peterson) Knutson.  He graduated from Montevideo High School in 1953 and served in the US Army during the Korean War.  Lowell was united in marriage with Bev Johnson December 21, 1963 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  They made their home on a farm southeast of Montevideo where he farmed and fed cattle.  He loved being a farmer and feeding cattle.  He was very proud of his three boys.  He was an avid sports fan, especially Minnesota Gopher boys and girls basketball.  He enjoyed gardening and riding in the gator with his dog Tippi.  Lowell was an active church goer for many years.  He had a great love for food and his wife’s cooking.

He is survived by his wife, Bev; three sons: Randy (Lori) Knutson of Montevideo, Chad (Kelly) Knutson of Clarkfield and Jon (Heather) Knutson of Denver, CO; six grandchildren: Steven (Alison) Huntley, Kari (David Kirking) Huntley, Kristi (Sean) Melmer, Kayla (Ryan Boike) Knutson, Taylor Knutson, and Reggie Knutson; three great-grandchildren: Jaden, Kingston, and Madden; a brother, Ronald (Sharon) Knutson of College Station, TX; two sisters: Evelyn (Ray) Johnson of Brooklyn Park, MN and Lorraine (Phillip) Vold of Clarkfield, MN; a sister-in-law, Margaret Knutson of Montevideo; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog, Tippi.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Marvin Knutson; and a brother-in-law, Doug Dahl.
