Lowell O. Miller

January 10, 1915 — August 3, 2000

Lowell O. Miller was born January 10, 1915, in Maxwell Twp., Lac Qui Parle County, to Aaron and Lillian (Soblom) Miller.  He was baptized and confirmed at the Dawson Covenant Church and attended country school at District 25 in Maxwell Twp.
Lowell and Melvern Anderson secretly eloped to Gary, SD, on November 10, 1935.  They each returned to their parents' home, and for two weeks, it was kept a secret until notice was read in the newspaper.  Farming was his life.  He farmed in Yellow Medicine and Lac Qui Parle Counties before moving into a home in Dawson in 1990.  He and Melvern entered the Johnson Memorial Home on February 2, 2000, and he remained there until his death on Thursday, August 3, at the age of 85.
He is survived by his wife Melvern; two sons: Paul (Jeanne) of Sauk City, WI, and Gary (Arlene) of rural Dawson; two daughters: Beverly (Harry) Botten of Montevideo and LaVonne (Virgil) Mogard of Olivia; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Dorothy (Arne) Jordahl and Myrtle (Wesley) Anderson of Dawson; other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Loyd.
Lowell was active in the Farmer's Union and the Dawson Covenant Church and served on the Farmer's Coop Elevator Board for over 27 years.
He liked to be in the shop at the farm, especially doing woodworking, and for over 22 years enjoyed camping at the lake.  He liked practical jokes, socializing, was always selling tickets, and would always invite you in for a cup of coffee.
