Lucile Gwendolyn Waters was born January 8, 1912 in Todd County, MN the daughter of Guy and Nellie (Pitts) Aitchison.  She attended rural schools in Swift and Chippewa County and also attended high school in Benson, MN.  Lucile was united in marriage to Delmont M. Waters on August 19, 1933 at Marvin, SD.  Lucile was a homemaker and a gardener.  They had a truck garden near the Minnesota River during the 30's and 40's.  In 1947 they moved to the north side of Montevideo to get out of the floods, where they also raised a large garden.  While living along the river, the neighborhood ladies had a sewing club that met once a month and they always served delicious lunches.  Lucile and Del had a cabin on the south side of Lake Minnewaska for 25 years, where there was always plenty of food and a good time for everyone that came.  They liked to fish and travel.  Lucile was a member of the Montevideo United Methodist Church.  She was active in the Ladies Aid and also a member of the Dorcas-Lydia circle for many years.  She was a very good seamstress and also crocheted and knit.  In the later years, she enjoyed dressing dolls by crocheting clothes for them and giving them to people for special occasions.  Lucile moved to Brookside Manor in December of 1996 and later to Luther Haven in February of 2000.

She is survived by two sons: Lyle Waters of Langdon, ND and George Waters and his wife Carol of Montevideo, MN; two daughters: Beverly Hunstad and her husband Lyman Weatherly of Jasper, MN and Virginia Dally and her husband Bert of Merrifield, MN; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 15 step grandchildren; 39 step great-grandchildren; 6 step great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Emily Thornton of San Jose, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
