Lucille Emch, of Maynard, died on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the Chippewa Co - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 73. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at Maynard Lutheran Church with Rev. Mary Hovland officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening with the family present from 4 - 7 P.M. and with a prayer service at 4:00 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Lucille Jean (Gross) Emch was born on February 10, 1936 in Wood Co., Ohio to Carl and Irene (Brinker) Gross. She was baptized and confirmed at Stony Ridge Lutheran Church in Stony Ridge, Ohio. In 1954 she graduated from Webster School in Scotch Ridge, Ohio. On June 5, 1954 she was united in marriage to Richard Emch at Ft. Sill, OK. They lived in Perrysburg, OH for four years before moving to Haskins, OH in 1959. In 1974 they moved to Maynard, MN. She was active in both church and community After her retirement from 28 years as MACCRAY school secretary, she held positions in Lac qui Parle Conference WELCA, Global Missions Maynard Lions Club and Hearing Dog Chairman in District 5-M, Heritage Hill Antique Power Association, book club and she still had time to show care and concern by helping others when needed. Lucy loved her Savior, her family and was a loyal friend. She took much pleasure in attending all the events that involved her grandchildren. Along with her husband Richard, she loved to travel and had been to every state except Alaska, and that was in their future plans. She is survived by her husband Richard; three children: Cindy Damon and Rick Emch of Montevideo and Sheryl DeVos and her husband Greg of Marshall, MN; four grandchildren: Derek, Devin (and fiance Elizabeth Hacker), Deanna and Denaca DeVos; and a sister Evelyn (and Ray) Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, Jerry Damon and by a brother-in-law, Clarence Hoodleberink.
