Lucille Erickson died on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the Riverside Assisted Living in Granite Falls at the age of 92. Memorial services will be conducted on Friday, April 23, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Interment will be in the Augusta Cemetery near Marietta, MN. Visitation will be prior to the services on Friday at the church. Lucille Irene (Larson) Erickson was born on December 5, 1917 near Marietta, MN to Oscar and Sophia (Bolland) Larson. She was baptized and confirmed at the Madison Lutheran Church in Madison, MN and graduated from Madison High School in 1935. On December 21, 1941 she was united in marriage to Vernon Erickson of Montevideo, MN in Yuma, AZ. They lived in San Diego, CA and she remained there while her husband served in the US Army during World War II. After his discharge, they returned to Minnesota and lived in Minneapolis, where their daughter, Kathryn was born in 1950. Vern's work as a sales representative took them to Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan, and Missouri before returning back to Minnesota. After retirement, they lived for several years in Hutchinson, MN and later moved to Montevideo. Lucille has been a resident of Riverside Assisted Living in Granite Falls, MN since November, 2007. Lucille worked in Minneapolis as an executive secretary for Red Owl, the Champlin Insurance Agency and Burma Shave, but mostly was a full-time mother and homemaker. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo. She enjoyed traveling, reading, embroidering and quilting, and loved music, singing and dancing. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and grandmother. She had many dear friends and treasured friendships that lasted over decades and distances. Lucille will remain in the hearts of all who love her and will be deeply missed. Lucille is survived by a daughter, Kathryn Lopez-Serrano, and her husband Francisco of Metepec, Mexico; two grandsons: Patricio and Alejandro of Mexico; a sister, Clara Mooney of Phoenix, AZ; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Darline Erickson of Montevideo and Dorothy Weber and her husband Gregor of Philip, SD, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vernon in 1999, two brothers: Fredolph and Gilbert Larson and by a sister, Mildred Stafne.
