Lucille Tise, of Montevideo, died on December 8, 2013 in Claremount, CA at the age of 98.
Lucille (Collins) Tise was born April 5, 1915 at Montevideo, MN the daughter of Nick and Nellie Collins. She was the third of nine children and she graduated from Montevideo High School in 1933. Lucille started working in the restaurant business after high school. She was united in marriage to LaVerne “Tubby” Tise on August 27, 1942 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose. He served in the US Army from 1942 until 1946 in the Pacific Theater, including on Iwo Jima. They returned to Montevideo and purchased Jeb’s Café on the south end, in 1949 they moved the café to the north end and finally built Tise’s Café in 1961 until retiring in 1979. She and Tubby loved to ballroom dance. Lucille was very artistic making quilts, figurines, and sewing. She was an excellent cook providing the restaurant with cakes, cookies, and special desserts. After Tubby’s death in 2004 she moved to Brookside Manor and later to California in 2010 to live with her daughter, Cheryl.
She is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Zawicki of Claremont, CA; one brother Roy Collins ; one sister, Carol Junek; and numerous nieces and nephews.
