LuVerne Bornus, of Montevideo, died on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 86. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter with Rev. Theresa Kraft officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. LuVerne Anna Ulricka Bornus was born on April 18, 1922 in Augusta Township of Lac qui Parle Co., MN to Emil and Erna (Redepenning) Heyer. She was confirmed at Trinity Evengelical Lutheran Church, attended Nassau Public School and graduated from Marietta High School in 1940. On September 18, 1950 she was united in marriage to Milford Bornus in Montevideo. They lived and farmed in Baxter Township until she moved into Montevideo in 2003. She has been a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home for the past three years. She was a long-time member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter and involved in the women's groups of the church. She loved to garden, quilt, sew and especially spend time with her family. She is survived by six children: Gayle Dansby and her husband Stewart of Clara City, MN, Corliss Alstad and her husband Donald of Hopkins, MN, Brian Schliep and his wife Linda of Stillwater, MN, Lana Entgelmeier and her husband Gaylon of Cottage Grove, MN, Lori Walburg of Eden Prairie, MN and Loretta Moore and her husband Dave of Coon Rapids, MN; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Milford in 2003.
