Lydia Olson, formerly of Montevideo, died on Thursday January 25, 1996 at the Appleton Nursing Home at the age of 99.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday January 29, 1996 at 1:30 P.M. with Rev. Kathryn Rothman and Rev. Alan Kitttelson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Lydia Snelling Olson was born on January 12, 1897 in Swift Co., MN to Andres and Kari (Moen) Snelling. She was baptized in the Lutheran Faith as an infant and was confirmed in 1911 at the West Bank Lutheran Church. She attended rural schools. On February 12, 1917 she was united in marriage to Oscar T. Olson in Milan, MN. They farmed for 10 years before moving into Big Bend in 1927. In 1968 she moved to Montevideo and was a long-time resident of Parkview Tower. In 1992 she entered the Appleton Nursing Home. She was a member of the Big Bend Lutheran Church, its women's groups and circles, and worked as a Red Cross Volunteer during World War II.
She is survived by a son, Lloyd Olson and his wife Marion of Montevideo, MN; by a daughter - Rudell Kittelson and her husband Leslie of Holiday Island, Arkansas; 15 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; 6 great, great grandchildren; by a sister - Arginia Streed of Milan, MN and by a daughter-in-law - Adeline Ellengboe and her husband Gene of Milan, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Oscar in 1967, by a son - Arthur, by brothers - Peter, John, and Oscar Snelling, and by a sister - Clara Olson.
