Lyla Ann (Sorensen) Livingston

March 21, 1931 — August 7, 2017

Lyla Livingston died Monday, August 7, 2017 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 86.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 11:00am at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo with Rev. Sam Kautz officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on the day of the service.

Lyla Ann Livingston (Sorensen) was born on March 21, 1931 in Springfield, MN to Mandrew and Margaret (Anderson) Sorenson. She was baptized on April 13, 1941, and confirmed at Comfrey Congregational Church in Comfrey, MN. Lyla attended Comfrey High School, and graduated in 1949. She married Weldon Hodge on August 8, 1948 in Comfrey, they later divorced in 1973. She then married Bill Livingston on May 20, 1989 in Chanhassen, MN, and they later divorced in 1996.

Throughout her life, Lyla lived in various areas. She lived in places such as Edina, MN, El Cajon, CA, Tucson, AZ, and Montevideo, MN. Lyla was a hairdresser for the majority of her life. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary and the Red Hat Club. She was also a member of the Methodist Church, where she was the pie chairperson for several years. Lyla enjoyed dancing, traveling, playing cards, baking, and spending time with family and friends. Lyla always enjoyed a good party! She was an avid sports watcher and especially enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins.

Lyla is survived by her children: Carmen (Mark) Weckwerth, Rex (Linda) Hodge, and Tami Hodge (Gregg Waylander); sister-in-laws, Elaine Sorensen and Delphine Sorensen; grandchildren: Rita (Doug) Bahr, Cealy (Andy) Eckberg, Heather (Mike) Zylka, Josh (Cassie Pouliot) Weckwerth, Ryan Hodge, Sarah Botkin, and Kimberly Botkin; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Marvin (Sam) and Ivan (Fat) Sorensen; and sister, Lola (Whitey) Felker.
