Lyla Streed, of Appleton, died on Friday, December 10, 2010 at the Appleton Hospital at the age of 89. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Rev. Cathie Rhodes officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Lyla Sophie (Hantho) Streed was born on January 8, 1921in Hantho Township of Lac qui Parle Co., MN to Albert and Louise (Shelstad) Hantho. She was baptized and confirmed at Minnesota Valley Lutheran Church, attended the Hantho School and graduated from Appleton High School in 1939. She attended nurse's training in Madison. On January 30, 1942 she was united in marriage to Warren Streed at her family farm in Lac qui Parle Co. They lived and farmed for many years in Edison Township of Swift Co. In 1979 they moved into Milan and moved to Appleton about two years ago. She was a long-time and active member of the Milan Methodist Church and involved in their women's activities and was currently a member of Kviteseid Lutheran Church. She enjoyed doing ceramics, baking, gardening, making afghans and liked to entertain. She is survived by her husband Warren; three children: Wanda Boyer and her husband Gary of Fridley, MN; Ronald Streed and his wife Nancy of Milan and Mark Streed and his wife Janelle of Milan; five grandchildren: six great grandchildren; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James; a brother, Murlyn Hantho and by two sisters: Eunice Hantho and Alda Ernst.
