Lynnette Foss died Monday, March 31, 2025 at Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson at the age of 69.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Rev. Kendall Stelter will officiate and interment will be at Borgund Lutheran Cemetery, rural Madison.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-7:00 PM at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson with a prayer service at 6:30 PM. There will also be visitation at the church for one hour before the service.
Lynnette Phyllis (Skurdahl) Foss was born September 27, 1955, in Montevideo, MN the daughter of Peter and Lillian (Prestholdt) Skurdahl. She was baptized and confirmed at Borgund Lutheran Church and graduated from Madison High School in 1974. She was united in marriage with Rex Lee in 1977. They had four children: Roxanne, Peter, Nicole and Luke. She was united in marriage with Brad Foss in 1993 and Brad passed away in 1998.
Lynnette lost her father when she was 16; he inspired her love of music when he gave her a piano when she was a child, she played the very same piano until she was no longer able to due to her health. Lynnette was the church organist at Borgund Lutheran for many years and played for many weddings and funerals throughout her life.
Lynnette was a caregiver her whole life, she helped care for her mother and other family members. She worked at the Madison Lutheran Home and later at Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson. For many years she was a CNA and later she went to school to get her LPN while raising 4 young kids on her own and taking care of her mother.
Lynnette loved her children and was always there for them, she was always at her kids’ events throughout their school years. She was the mom that came on fieldtrips and opened her house to all her children’s friends, she made her home the place to be. Lynnette loved being a grandma to her nine grandkids, who referred to her as Grandma Net.
Lynnette and her special friend Willy Hahn enjoyed attending country music concerts, traveling to fun places in his RV, and spending time with their friends. She also enjoyed, gardening, baking, sewing, going on walks, playing darts, freezing sweet corn, and canning.
She is survived by her children: Roxanne (Mike) Saulsbury of Fargo, Peter (Sarah) Lee of Dawson, Nicole (Trent) Jorgenson of Watson, and Luke Lee of Dawson; nine grandchildren: Jadyn and Reese Saulsbury, Brooklyn, Lauren, Nolan, Addelyn Lee, and Taylen, Shae, and Milly Jorgenson; a brother, Clayton (Diane) Skurdahl of Freemont, NE; nieces and nephews and extended family.
Preceding her in death were parents; husband, Brad; and a brother Eldon (Brenda) Skurdahl.
