Mabel Caroline (Lynne) Burg

Mabel Burg, of Montevideo, died on Saturday, January 17, 1998 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 91.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 20, 1998 at 1:30 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Warren Broughton and Rev. Douglas Olson officiating.  Burial will be in the Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Mabel Caroline (Lynne) Burg was born on September 27, 1906 in Chippewa County, MN to Gilbert and Clara (Peterson) Lynne.  She was baptized and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church and attended rural schools.  On December 7, 1929 she was united in marriage to Gilbert Burg in St. Paul, MN.  She lived the rest of her lifetime in the Montevideo area.  She worked as a cook and waitress for many years at a variety of local cafes and worked as a sales clerk at S & L for a couple of years before retiring.  She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and was an active member of its Altar Guild for over 30 years and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary for 54 years.  She enjoyed crocheting, handwork, antiques and dishes and liked to speak and read in Norwegian.  She was currently a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home.

She is survived by four sons: Donald Burg of Montevideo, MN, Eugene Burg of Anderson, IN, W. Gale Burg of Dawson, MN, and Joe Burg of Rosemount, MN; four daughters:  Carol Halverson of Marshall, MN,  Kathleen Workman of Sioux Falls, SD, Bonnie Hill of Marshall, MN, and Rebecca Hilfers of Worthington, MN; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one brother,  Joseph Lynne of Montevideo, MN; one sister, Gladys Larson of Montevideo, MN; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gilbert in 1987; one daughter, Mavis Schwan; one granddaughter, Nita Buckly; two brothers: Palmer Lynne and Clifford Lynne; and two sisters: Martha Saue and Ida Saue.
