Mabel (Rear) Golden

Mabel Golden, of Montevideo, died on  Saturday, June 14, 1997 at the Madison Lutheran Home at the age of 87.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 19, 1997 at 1:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with Rev. Paulus Pilgrim officiating.  Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.

Visitation will be prior to the services on Wednesday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Mabel (Rear) Golden was born on March 28, 1910 in Mandt Township of Chippewa County, MN to Halvor and Mathilda (Tobiason) Rear.  She was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church and attended rural schools.  She was united in marriage to Ervin Golden in Northwood, IA. They lived in Minneapolis until moving to Montevideo in 1940.  Ten years later they moved to Minneapolis, where they lived until Ervin's death in 1974.  She moved back to Montevideo, where she lived until 1994 when she became a resident of the Madison Lutheran Home.  Mabel enjoyed gardening and crafts such as knitting, crocheting and sewing.  She was an excellent cook and enjoyed canning and baking.

She is survived by one daughter, Geraldine DuVall of Montevideo, MN; two grandsons: Mark (Laural) DuVall of Montevideo, MN and Mike (Tanya) DuVall of Arvada, CO; three granddaughters: Dorothy (Mike) McCormick of Fergus Falls, MN, Susan (Mark) Sweno of Milan, MN, and Laura DuVall of Hopkins, MN; ten great-grandchildren: Melissa and Kara McCormick of Fergus Falls, MN, Nettie DuVall of Montevideo, MN, Jessica, Kirstin and Derick Sweno of Milan, MN, Jeffrey and Cherie Stai of Hopkins, MN, and Crystal and Jennifer Jansen of Olivia, MN; one sister-in-law, Marion (Corwin) Kindelberger of Montevideo, MN; as well as by nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ervin in 1974; one grandson, Allan DuVall; one great-grandson, Matthew McCormick; four sisters: Inga Rear, Klara Rear, Hattie Schultz and Ida Edstrom; two brothers: Willie Rear and Harry Rear; and her son-in-law, Bruce DuVall.
