Mabel Alice (Quenemoen) Gruchow

Mabel Gruchow, of Montevideo, died on Saturday, October 21, 2000 at her home at the age of 94.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 24 at 1:30 PM at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter with Rev. Steve Rheingans officiating.  Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.

Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening and with the family from 7 - 8 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Mabel Alice (Quenemoen) Gruchow was born on June 8, 1906 in Lac Qui Parle Co., MN to Oscar and Julia (Krugerud) Quenemoen.   She was baptized and confirmed at Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church and attended rural schools.  On February 14, 1935 she was united in marriage to Harry Gruchow. They lived from 1935 - 1955 on a farm in Lac Qui Parle Township in rural Dawson and on a farm near Lac Qui Parle Village from 1955 - 1987 before moving into Montevideo in 1987.  She was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter and it’s Ladies Aid.  She loved farm life, being outdoors and gardening.

She is survived by sons - Roger “Sonny” Gruchow and Allen Gruchow, both of Montevideo; a brother - Omar Quenemoen of Dawson, MN; sisters - Josie Lindquist of Dawson, MN;  Delaine Lundy of Dawson, MN; and Glenda Dvergsten of Watson, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harry in 1986, Brothers - Martin, Henry, Lester and Russell Quenemoen; by sisters - Rhoda Vellekson and Juella Johnson and by 2 infant sisters - Lillian and Josie Quenemoen.
