Mabel Heitkamp, formerly of Montevideo, died on April 5, 1996 at the Shady Lane Nursing Home in Wadena at the age of 93.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday April 9, 1996 at 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo with Rev. Robert Ford officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Mabel Henrietta (Zimmerle) Heitkamp was born on May 8, 1902 in Canton, SD to Johann and Susan Drusella (Sherman) Zimmerle. She was baptized on May 31, 1903. She grew up in the Montevideo area and attended school at the District 27 school. She was united in marriage to Earl Heitkamp on July 8, 1921 in Montevideo. She worked as a wall paper hanger and along with her husband ran an oil station east of Montevideo. She was a member of United Methodist Church, the Degree of Honor and enjoyed piano playing, flowers, dancing and playing cards. She was currently a resident of the Shady Lane Nursing Home in Wadena, MN
She is survived by one granddaughter, Marie Johnson and her husband John of Wadena, MN; two grandsons: Jerry Husby and his wife Nancy of Shoreview, MN and Dale Husby and his wife Pam of Farmington, MN; seven great-grandchildren: Lisa, Jon, Jason, Jan, Wendy, Bradley and Breanne; two great-great-grandchildren: Stephanie and Amanda; one brother-in-law, Glenn (Bernetta) Heitkamp of Montevideo, MN; a sister-in-law - Margaret Zimmerle; as well as by cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Earl in 1968; one daughter, Arlene Husby; and three brothers: Harold, Rich and Floyd Zimmerle.
