Mabel Laura (Banta) Johnson

Mabel Johnson, of Milan, MN died on Saturday, March 9, 2002 at the Appleton Nursing Home at the age of 100.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 12, 2002 at 2:00 PM at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Rev. Wayne Anderson officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Mabel Laura (Banta) Johnson was born on November 18, 1901 in Milan, MN to John and Mary (Strid) Banta.   She was baptized and confirmed at the Milan Methodist Church and attended Milan schools.  On June 24, 1922 she was united in marriage to Henry Johnson at the Johnson family farm.  They farmed in the Milan area for many years before moving into Milan.  She has been a resident of the Appleton Nursing Home for the past five years.  She was a member of Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan and enjoyed sewing and baking.

She is survived by a son, Thomas Johnson and his wife Dorothy of Starbuck, MN; a daughter-in-law, Adeline Johnson of Atwater, MN; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and a sister, Francis Rogers of Milwaukee, OR.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry in 1972, a son, Donald as well as by three brothers and four sisters.
