Madeline Gorham

Madeline Gorham died Monday, July 8, 2019 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo at the age of 18.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Montevideo Fine Arts Center.

Visitation with the family will be held on Monday, July 15, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Hope Reformed Church in Montevideo.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the Fine Arts Center.

Madeline Gorham was born on April 27, 2001 at the Montevideo Hospital to Jennifer and David Gorham.  She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton, MN and then became a member of Hope Reformed Church in Montevideo where she was baptized by the Holy Spirit in May of 2010.  Maddie graduated in 2019 at the Montevideo High School.  She taught swimming, guitar and clarinet lessons.  Her future plans included attending Concordia College in Moorhead, MN as a music education major and to go on to obtain her doctorate.  Her dream was to someday play in a symphony.

At the age of 2 she began her music career playing the kazoo with the Milan Community Band.  She eventually graduated to the clarinet, where she found her gift.  From there, she won several awards in solo and ensemble and was even honored to play in the Minnesota Music Educator’s Association All State Concert Band.

Maddie had a drive to obtain certain goals in life, this included her education, her love of music and sports.  She also loved getting together with family and friends and playing music. Maddie had an uncanny sense of humor and a love for puns! Her creative thinking lead to beautiful artwork and unique gifts for others.  She always had a way of finding encouraging words for her friends and family.  She left a mark on her community.

Maddie is survived by her parents: Jennifer Gorham and David Gorham; brother: Spencer; special friend: Erik Braley; grandmother: Ruth Miller; grandfather: Walter Gorham; aunts, uncles, cousins and many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather: Willard Miller; grandmother: Shirley Gorham, aunts, uncles relatives and friends.
