Mae Stoen, 87, of Montevideo died Monday, November 6, 2000 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 9, 2000 at 11:00 A.M. at Big Bend Lutheran Church. Rev. Warren Broughton will officiate and interment will be at Big Bend Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and with the family present from 6:30 - 7:30 P.M..
Mae Ellen (Petersen) Stoen was born January 19, 1913 at New Brighton, MN the daughter of Christian and Bertha (Miller) Petersen. She attended school in Minneapolis. Mae was united in marriage with Ernie Pederson April 19, 1935. They made their home in Montevideo, MN. Ernie died November 12, 1973. She was united in marriage with Ernest Stoen August 25, 1979 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. They made their home in Montevideo, wintered in Venice, FL for 11 years and lived there from 1996-98, and then moved back to Montevideo. She was a member of the Sons of Norway, Our Saviors Lutheran Church and active in women’s groups in her younger years, was a Girl Scouts Leader, and currently was a member of Big Bend Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and family activities.
She is survived by her husband, Ernest; three children: Susan Schei and her husband Larry of Grand Marais, MN, Marcia Neely and her husband John of Benson, MN, and Douglas Pederson and his wife Marie of Montevideo, MN; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Ernest Pederson; one son, Bobby Pederson; one grandchild, J.W. Neely; two brothers: James and Herbert Petersen; and two sisters: Lulu Lind and Annabelle Lund.
