Margretta Allickson, of Montevideo, died on Monday, December 15, 2014 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 87. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Kathy Skoglund officiating. Interment will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Monday from 5 - 7 P.M. with a memory sharing time at 6:15 P.M. at the Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Margretta (Jensen) Allickson was born July 27, 1927 to Frode and Pauline (Klukas) Jensen in Tracy, MN. She attended high school in Montevideo and graduated in 1945. Following high school she attended St. Cloud Teacher’s College and upon completion taught for a few years in various schools. She married Henry “Hank” Allickson on November 21, 1952 in Sioux Falls, SD. Because of Hank’s career in the military, they lived and raised their family in a variety of places including North Carolina, Panama, Oklahoma, Florida and Texas. When Hank retired in 1974 they made Montevideo their permanent home.
Margretta was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was active as a Sunday School, Confirmation and Release Time teacher. She was a long- time volunteer for serving Senior Communion at the church and she spent many hours making sure that the Senior Communion day was special for all involved. Margretta enjoyed knitting and quilting for her church, making prayer shawls and quilts which were given to young people in the congregation. She also was a member of the Red Hat Jolly Dollys and enjoyed activities with her friends in this organization. Family and friends were important to Margretta and she enjoyed visiting and being with family and friends as often as she could.
Margretta is survived by her children: Patrick of Milwaukee, WI, John of Tampa, FL, Mark (Lynn) of Montevideo, MN, Robert (Kathy) of Oakdale, MN, Paulette of Sartell, MN and Mary Beth Einess of Bloomington, MN; 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law: Eleanor Allickson of Brainerd, MN, Mabel Jensen of Montevideo, MN, Esther Jensen of New Ulm, MN; many nieces and nephews; and countless dear friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Hank in 1991; her brothers, Fred and Doug Jensen; and daughter-in-law, Chris Allickson.
