Marian Norman, of Anoka, died on Saturday, August 9, 2003 at the North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale at the age of 82.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at 1:00 PM at Independent Baptist Church in Ramsey, MN with Pastor Chuck Nichols and Pastor Robert E. Reese officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Nowthen, MN.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
Marian Elizabeth (Reese) Norman was born on June 12, 1921 in Newport News, VA to Thomas and Sarah (James) Reese. She grew up and graduated from high school in Newport News. On April 7, 1946 she was united in marriage to Darwin Norman in Hampton, VA. They moved to Minnesota in 1952 and made their home on a farm raising Percheron draft horses and quarter horses. She was an extremely gifted and talented woman, having sang and played the guitar for the USO entertaining the troops during WWII. She was an artist and wrote a book of gospel poetry. She retired from Civil Service at the U.S. Department of Agriculture after 31 years and was a member of the Independent Baptist Church in Ramsey, MN.
She is survived by her husband, Darwin (Dee) of Anoka, MN; one son, Danny of Anoka, MN; one daughter, Dorothy Pierce and her husband C. Thomas of Taylorville, IL; three granddaughters: Lisa Rogerson, Amy Ryan and April Pierce, all of St. Louis, MO; three sisters: Chaplain Alice Thomas, Mabel Mullen and Roxie Riddle, all of Newport News, VA; two brothers: Thomas Reese of Hampton, VA and Rev. Robert Reese of Atlantic, VA; as well as by nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: James and William Reese; and one sister, Sarah Gsell
