Marianne (Gunderson) Jacoby, formerly of the Big Bend area, died on Thursday, May 12, 2011 in Black Canyon, AZ at the age of 64. Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at Big Bend Lutheran Church with Rev. Jay Grave officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Marianne Kristen (Gunderson) Jacoby was born on October 11, 1946 in Montevideo, MN to LaVon and Julia (Laumb) Gunderson. She was baptized at Mandt Lutheran Church and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church. She attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Appleton High School in 1964. She worked for Family Services in Benson for ten years and as a secretary at various places in Montevideo, Fargo, ND and Moorhead, MN. She moved to Phoenix, AZ and became a personal caregiver until retiring in 2011. She loved animals and always had pets, and was very generous. She is survived by a son, Jeff (and Jenny) Jacoby of Aurora, CO; a daughter, Julie (and Gary) Vien of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren: Hannah, Heidi and Halle Jacoby; her parents, LaVon and Julia Gunderson of Montevideo; a brother, John (and Renay) Gunderson of Big Bend; an uncle, Donald (and Wendy) Gunderson; three aunts: Signe Ovre, Alice Cronen and Emma Koenen; a sister-in-law, Barb (and Lyle) Swenson; a nephew, Doug Gunderson; a great niece, Hayley Gunderson; a great nephew, John Castle and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Gunderson; a niece, Melissa Gunderson, four aunts; four uncles; numerous cousins and by a special friend, John McQueeny.
