Marie Coulter died Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 89.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Maynard Presbyterian Church. Rev. Beverly Crute will officiate and interment will be at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens, rural Montevideo.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7:00 PM at the Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo and at the church for one hour before services on Saturday.
Marie Anita Coulter was born July 22, 1925 at Baudette, MN, the daughter of Axel and H. Anida (Ingstad) Sorensen. She moved with her family as a young girl to Montevideo and graduated from high school in 1943. Marie was united in marriage with Arnold Coulter July 30, 1944 at the Presbyterian Parsonage in Kerkhoven, MN. They made their home in rural Maynard. Marie served as the Librarian at the Public Library in Maynard for over 15 years. She also loved ceramics and owned a ceramic shop where she taught classes. Marie was a 4-H leader and a volunteer at the senior center. She had a love of quilting, sewing, and other hand work. She was an avid reader and writer and could easily come up with a poem or saying that pertained to any situation. Marie was very active in the Maynard Presbyterian Church where she served as Elder, Clerk of Session, Sunday School superintendent, and Ladies Aid. Spending time with her family, especially grandchildren, brought joy to her life.
She is survived by five children: Gary Coulter of Maynard, MN, Glen (Leanna) Coulter of Great Falls, MT, Lee ( Helen) Coulter of Lawton, IA, Marilyn (Lyn Redding) Coulter of Eden Prairie, MN, and Cindy (Harold) Ellingboe of Maynard, MN; ten grandchildren: Glenis (Mike) Elliott, Michael (Jana) Coulter, Scott (Angela) Coulter, Rebecca (Kirk) Weber, Justin (Jennifer) Coulter, Jeffery (Doni) Coulter, Patrick (Amy) Coulter, Shawn (Kara) Brandt, Reneé (Jason) James, and Marie Anderson; twenty-three great-grandchildren: Erik, Grant, Amanda, Michael, Zachary, Vivian, Rachel, Bryanna, Sierra, Claire, Laiken, Kaden, Madison, Payton, Delanie, Kaylie, Braden, Carsen, Morgan, Adam, Rachel, Macy, and Maggie; two great-great-grandchildren: Henry and Emerson; a sister: Lela (Ralph) Coulter of Maynard; a sister-in-law, Myrtle Raebel of Montevideo, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Arnold in 2008; a daughter-in-law, Becky; and brothers, sisters, and in-laws.
