Marie Fossen

Marie Fossen, of Montevideo, died Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 88.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald S. McKee officiating. Interment will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens, rural Montevideo.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 20th from 5 - 7 PM at the Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo and for one hour prior to services at the church.

Marie Eleanor (Iwerks) Fossen was born May 16, 1926 in her family’s home in Marietta, MN to John and Maggie (Knock) Iwerks.  She was baptized January 2, 1927 at the Antelope Valley Reformed Church in Marietta.  She graduated from Marietta High School in 1944.  On November 24, 1948, Marie was united in marriage to Ivan Walford Fossen in Madison, MN and to this union  three children were born.  Marie worked as a beautician, helped in operating the farm, and was a wonderful homemaker.  She took joy in sewing, dancing, gardening, and canning.  She also taught Sunday school for many years, was a part of the Women’s Circle, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Marie is survived by her children: Gene Fossen of Loveland, CO, Randee Septon of Sioux City, IA, and Kevin (Janet) Fossen of Brandon, MN; Gene’s former wife Donna Fossen of Belle Fourche , SD; five grandchildren: Chad Fossen, Ryan (Sonia) Fossen, Shane (Vicki) Fossen, Blaine Fossen, and Nikki (JR) Janik; ten great-grandchildren, Cody, Sara, Megan, Oliver, Athan, Jillian, Richelle, Cameron, Taylor, and Matt; a brother,  Don (Carol) Iwerks of Aberdeen, SD; and a sister-in-law, Doris “Tootie” Iwerks of Apple Valley, MN.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ivan in 1971; a grandson, Shawn Septon; her parents; and brothers, Warren (Marion) Iwerks, Henry “Hank” Iwerks, and Alvin (Erma Fenhaus) Iwerks.
