Marjorie Fader, of Montevideo, died on Tuesday, March 20, 2001 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 88.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 23, 2001 at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo with Rev. Paul Woolverton officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening and with the family from 6:30 - 7:30 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Marjorie Belle Fader was born on December 19, 1912 in Wentworth, SD to Cleveland and Mary (Stanley) Fader. She graduated from high school in Verdi, MN as valedictorian in 1931. She attended Teacher’s Training in Pipestone, MN from 1931 - 1932 and taught in Lincoln Co., MN from 1932 - 1934. She attended Mankato State College from 1934 - 1937, graduating with honors. She received her Library of Science Degree from the University of Minnesota. From 1937 to 1942 she taught in Geneva, MN, from 1942 to 1943 in Buffalo, MN, taught science and served as High School Librarian in Clarkfield, MN from 1943 to 1958 and from 1958 - 1978 was a librarian in the Montevideo school system. She touched the lives of her many students. She was an active member of the Chippewa County Historical Society and the United Methodist Church. Marjorie was known as the “Rose Lady” and her beautiful roses were her “children”.
She is survived by one brother, Roger Fader of Willmar, MN; one sister-in-law, Helen Fader of St. Cloud, MN; nine nieces and nephews: Jean (Fader) Blake, James Fader, Patricia (Mortenson) Norgren, Richard Fader, Mary Mortenson, Betty (Fader) Erickson, Melvin Mortenson, Roma (Mortenson) Kindschi and Robert Fader; as well as by her “favorites”, her great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Cleveland and Mary Fader, two brothers: Jay and Werter Fader; and one sister, Nellie Mortenson.
