Marjorie Moen died Friday, December 12, 2003 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 85.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter. Rev. Charlie Bunk will officiate and interment will be at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be held Monday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with the family present from 5-8:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M.
Marjorie Cecelia (Runyon) Moen was born July 13, 1918 at Boyd, MN the daughter of Rollie and Alma (Rhyne) Runyon. She was baptized as a young girl with her five sisters and later confirmed at the Lutheran church in Boyd. Marjorie was united in marriage with Palmer B. Moen May 31, 1944. They made their home in Boyd before moving to a farm north of Boyd in the late 1940's. They moved to Willmar in 1978 and after Palmer’s death in 1980 she moved to Montevideo. Marjorie worked with her sisters for a few summers as a teenager at Yellowstone National Park. She also worked at Aldrids and Gibson/Pamida for many years before working at MTI in the 1970's. Marjorie was proud to be the mother and grandmother of three veterans. She enjoyed sewing, doing hardanger, baking, and visiting with neighbors and friends. She was always a hard worker and was very proud of her lawn.
She was the loving mother of two sons: Wesley and his wife Elaine of Cheyenne, WY and DuWayne and his wife Renaee of Montevideo, MN. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Rebecca Pirius and her husband Landon of Chaska, MN, Jaime Niemeyer and her husband Anthony of Granite Falls, MN, Nicholas Moen of Duluth, MN, and Carson Winters of Minnetonka, MN; two great-grandsons: Markus and Ryen Niemeyer; three sisters: Ruth Bebout and her husband Frank of Bellevue, WA, Delores Berg and her husband Tilford of Clarkfield, MN, and Rhodeana Johnson of Pierz, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Palmer in February of 1980; an infant daughter, Becky Kae in 1951; four sisters: Dorothy Hinz, Vesta Kaupang, Charlotte Quammen, and Viola Jane Runyon in infancy; and one brother, Dean Runyon.
