Marjorie Marie (Woolery) Ross

Blackduck

Marjorie Ross, of Blackduck, MN and formerly of Montevideo, MN died on Friday, November 16, 2007 at the North Country Hospital in Bemidji, MN at t he age of 92.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald S. McKee officiating.  Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

Marjorie Marie (Woolery) Ross was born on July 13, 1915 in Pilot Grove Township near Elmore, MN to Albert and Louise (Campbell) Woolery. The family moved to Dunn Center in western North Dakota for a time before moving to Montevideo, MN, where Marjorie graduated from Montevideo High School in 1934.  On May 16, 1936 she was united in marriage to Melvin Ross in Montevideo.  To this union was born two sons, Ronald and James.  She lived most of her married life in Montevideo before moving to Blackduck, MN in 1997 to be nearer her son James and his family.  She was a long-time member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo and was active in its women’s groups including circle and quilting. Marjorie was a loving and nurturing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who was known for her baking and cooking.  A favorite of her family were her “sun buckles”.  No matter who stopped by, they were always welcomed.  When Melvin worked on the road, she traveled along, cooking for him and making every place feel like home. She spent countless hours knitting, quilting and crocheting and many friends and family members were recipients of her beautiful work, especially her doilies and tablecloths.

She is survived by her son, James Ross and his wife Judy of Blackduck, MN; a daughter-in-law, Elaine (Ross) Liggitt of Greeley, CO; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two brothers: Charles Woolery of Bella Vista, AZ and Donald Woolery of Bowie, MD; a sister, Janet Gunter of Clara City, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin in 1990; a son, Ronald; a granddaughter, Karen Ross; three brothers: Warren, Lewis and Roger Woolery; and by a sister, Harriet Trolander.
