Marlowe Skogrand, of Montevideo, died on Wednesday, July 8, 1998 at his home in Mandt Township at the age of 71.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, July 11, 1998 at 10:30 AM at Jevnaker Lutheran Church with Rev. Gregory Gabriel officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Marlowe Vernon Skogrand was born on January 22, 1927 in Montevideo, MN to Peder and Alma (Gulden) Skogrand. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church by Rev. Strom and attended rural schools. He enlisted in the US Navy on December 29, 1944 and served until his discharge on on August 3, 1946. On February 21, 1948 he was united in marriage to Mildred Tobiason. They farmed in Mandt Township of Chippewa Co. He was a member of Jevnaker Lutheran Church, VFW Post #380 and American Legion Post #39. Marlowe enjoyed watching all sports, especially those involving his grandchildren, and planting trees and flowers.
He is survived by his wife Mildred; sons - Richard Skogrand of Montevideo and Dean Skogrand and his wife Connie of Cottonwood, MN; a daughter - Nancy Kurtzbein and her husband Bob of Montevideo; grandchildren - Corey and Kelly Skogrand; Michelle, Melissa and Ashley Roder; and Jason and Matt Kurtzbein; brothers - Paul Skogrand and his wife Leona and Donald Skogrand and his wife Pat of Montevideo; sisters - Elvera Raffelson and Vivian Larson and her husband Orice of Montevideo and Delores Cornelius and her husband Donald of Eden Prairie, MN; by special friends - the Roger Gades Family; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter - Julie Roder and brothers - Arvid Skogrand and Clifford Skogrand.
