Marvin Hogrefe, of Watson, died on Wednesday November 26, 2014 at his home in Watson at the age of 78.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Watson with Vicor Linda Estling and Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 1, 2014 with the family present from 5 - 7 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 P.M. at the Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home.
Marvin Dale Hogrefe was born on September 8, 1936 to Fred and Marie (Gerjets) Hogrefe in Litchfield, MN. He attended school in Grove City until grade 5. He left school to work on the farm. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Marvin married Kathy Russell on January 26, 1963 in St. Cloud. They had four children together. Marvin was a truck driver for most of his life, having worked recently for Minnesota Express. Marvin enjoyed riding horse and anything to do with horses. He was honored in September 2014 as an honorary head usher at Immanuel Luther Church.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; children: J.D. (Amy) Hogrefe of Montevideo, Jeff (Rebecca) Hogrefe of Holloway, MN, Jodi (Jeremy) Gades of Holloway, MN, Julie Hogrefe of Watson, MN and Penny Schmidt of Garfield, MN; 12 grandchildren; siblings: Charlie Hogrefe, Rob Penguilly, Marge Grey, Sharon Bockoven, Marie Gran; and sister-law, Marie Hogrefe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his foster parents: Luella and Wally Nelson; his brother Leo Hogrefe; and brothers-in-law: Howard Grey and Duane Gran.
