Marvin Jerve, of Montevideo, died on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home at th age of 77.
Memorial services will be conducted on Thursday, January 9, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Donald McKee officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Marvin Stanley Jerve was born on September 2, 1925 in Montevideo, MN to Ole and Laura (Laumb) Jerve. He was baptized and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church in rural Montevideo and attended rural and Montevideo Schools. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. On March 6, 1948 he was united in marriage to Arlene Lund at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. He owned and operated Jerve Direct Service and worked at Cenex prior to working for over 16 years as head custodian at the Chippewa County Courthouse. He retired in 1990. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, the VFW and the DAV.
He is survived by three sons: Ronald Jerve and his wife Gail, Bruce Jerve and his wife Melva and Dave Jerve and his wife Chris, all of Montevideo; one daughter, Joann Kolstad and her husband Kris of Willmar, MN; 10 grandchildren: Jeremy and wife Melissa, Angie Jerve and fiancé Joey Dolan, and Eric Jerve; Katie, Joelle and Marcus Jerve; Kelly, Paul and Jeff Jerve and Jenna Kolstad; one brother, Gordon Jerve and his wife Lorraine of St. Cloud, MN; one sister, Edna Hull of Montevideo; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arlene in 2000; four brothers: Clarence, Orville, Arlo and Sander Jerve; and three sisters: Lucille Lomason, Avis Gallagher and Gladys Andreas.
