Marvin Knutson, of Montevideo, died on Friday, August 1, 1997 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Minneapolis at the age of 68.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday, August 4, 1997 at 10:30 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Alvin G. Lewis, Jr. officiating. Burial was in the Black Oak Lake Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation was Sunday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Marvin Rudolph Knutson was born on November 5, 1928 in Montevideo, MN to Claus and Alice (Peterson) Knutson. He was baptized and confirmed at Black Oak Lake Lutheran Church in rural Montevideo and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1946. From 1954 to 1956 he served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. On August 30, 1974 he was united in marriage to Margaret Martenson in Watertown, SD. He was a life-long farmer and his family was very active in 4-H. He was a member of the VFW Post #380 and was a lifelong member of Black Oak Lutheran and Trinity Lutheran Churches.
He is survived by his wife - Margaret: sons - David on Woodbury, MN and James of St. Cloud, MN; a daughter Karla at home; brothers - Lowell Knutson and his wife Bev of Montevideo; and Ronald Knutson and his wife Sharron of College Station, TX; by sisters - Evelyn Johnson and her husband Raymond of Brooklyn Park, MN and Lorraine Vold and her husband Phillip of Clarkfield, MN; a sister-in-law - Arlene Moen of Milan, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
