Mary Lou Smith, of Montevideo, died Friday, February 3, 2012 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 83. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 1:30 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Officiating over the service will be Maurice Welsh. Visitation will be held for 2 hours before the services on Saturday. Mary Louise (Williams) Smith was born February 23, 1928 at Lombard, IL the daughter of Warren and Mary Jane (Roades) Williams. She later moved with her family to Earlville, IL where she graduated from high school in 1945. Mary Lou worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield in Illinois for several years. She was united in marriage with John Smith on October 2, 1976 in Wadena, MN. They operated a truck farming business there for many years. They moved to Montevideo in the early 1980's. She also enjoyed cooking, growing flowers, and her companion Sissy. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, she loved to teach the Bible to others and she had devoted over 100 hours per month during the last 67 years of her life doing so. She is survived by her husband, John; her sister, Nora Lee McLeod of Bowling Green, MO; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Robert Williams; and a sister, Marjorie Gilmore.
