Mathilda "Tillie" J. (Dahl) Hokuf

Tillie Hokuf, of Montevideo, died on Tuesday, December 10, 1996, at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of  84.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday December 13, 1996, at 1:30 PM at Calvary Baptist Church in Montevideo with Rev. Paul Welander officiating.  Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Mathilda J. (Dahl) Hokuf was born on November 3, 1912 in Granite Falls Township of Chippewa County, MN to Ole and Hilda (Johnson) Dahl.  She grew up in rural Granite Falls, attended rural schools and graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1930.  She attended Normal Training in Montevideo and taught in rural schools iin Chippewa County for three years.  On January 20, 1940, she was united in marriage to Emory Hokuf at her family home.   They farmed in Lisbon Township of Yellow Medicine County for 31 years before retiring.  They lived near Pinewood, MN, for 6 1/2 years before returning to Montevideo in 1982.  She was currently a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home.  She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she served in several capacities.  She was active as a 4-H leader, homemakers club, served as President of the Beltrami County Homemakers Council, and was a Deaconess at the First Baptist Church in Bemidji, MN.

Tillie is survived by her husband, Emory; one daughter, Marie Bernal and her husband Gustavo of Rosemount, MN; one son, Paul Hokuf and his wife Sharon of Pinewood, MN; 7 grandchildren; one brother, Harold Dahl and his wife Luella of Granite Falls, MN; one sister, Belva North of Montevideo, MN; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, John in 1966, and two brothers: Lyndon Dahl and Ozzie Dahl.
