Mattie Lillian (Tebben) Tischer

Mattie Tischer, of Montevideo, died on Wednesday, May 24, 2000 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 95.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, May 30 at 1:30 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Lois Knutson officiating.  Burial was in the Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.

Mattie Lillian (Tebben) Tischer was born on March 14, 1905 in Bristol, IA to John and Mertie (Miller) Tebben.  She moved with her family to Chippewa County, MN as a young girl and attended rural schools.  She was united in marriage to William Tischer in Clara City, MN.  They farmed in Chippewa Co until she moved into Montevideo in 1969.  She has been a resident of Luther Haven Nursing Home for the past 1 ½ years.  She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid and Circles.

She is survived by three daughters: Ardys Zimmerman of Montevideo, MN, Betty Zimmerman of Chaska, MN and Phyllis Vivion and her husband John of Willmar, MN; one son, Kenneth Tischer of Chaska, MN; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William in 1969; one daughter, Doris Barnard; two sons: Leo Tischer, Sr. and Robert Tischer, Sr.; three grandchildren: Dean, Dianne & Daniel Zimmerman; three great-grandchildren: Nicholas Slagter, Luke Christenson, and Tera Lynn Schlabau; as well as by two brothers and four sisters.
