Maurice Swenson, of Montevideo, died on Wednesday, February 3, 1999 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 86.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, February 5, 1999 at 2:00 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Warren Broughton and Rev. Douglas Olson officiating, Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Maurice LeRoy Swenson was born on June 22, 1912 in Chippewa Co, MN to Lorenths and Matilda (Haugen) Swenson. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Watson, MN and atttended Rosewood School District #24. He spent a few years in Beloit, WI before being united in marriage to Ruby Augeson on November 5, 1941 in Beloit. He entered the US Army and served for four years. In 1945 they moved back to Montevideo where he worked as an auto mechanic for J.L. Johnson, Bill Weber and Monte Motors before retiring in the late 1970's. He was currently a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home. He was a long time member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by brothers - Leonard and Raymond Swenson of Montevideo; a sister - Ruth Norman of Montevideo; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruby in 1993, a sister - Cora Peterson and a brother - Arthur Swenson.
