Mavis Molden, of Benson and Milan/Big Bend areas, died on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 86.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at the Big Bend Lutheran Church in Big Bend with Rev. Gary Kubly officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening and with the family from 5 - 8 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Mavis Albertha (Serdahl) Molden was born on August 29, 1921 in Columbus, ND. the daughter of Albert and Martha (Gunderson) Serdahl. She was baptized on October 16, 1921 and confirmed August 18, 1935 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Columbus, ND. She received a Certificate of Education from Bowbells, Burke County, North Dakota. On December 16, 1942, she was united in marriage to Meredith Molden at Big Bend Lutheran Church. They farmed south of Big Bend and east of Milan for many years before retiring and moving into Benson in 1984. She had been a resident of Luther Haven the last six weeks. She was very active in church as a bible school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, member of ladies aid and circle. She was also a member of the Chippewa County Home Makers Club. Mavis enjoyed cooking, quilting, sewing, camping, fishing, garage sales, collecting spoons, coffee parties, and the Minnesota Twins.
She is survived by three children: Virgene Molden and his wife Linda of St. Cloud, MN, Delmont Molden and his wife Margaret of Portage, WI, and Julie Ann Salisbury and her husband Reed of Pennock, MN; seven grandchildren: Jon (Shelley) Molden, Jennifer (Martha Frueh) Molden, Nicole (Mike) Nelson, Angela (Jim) Pace, Brock (Ann) Molden, Mike Salisbury and Jason (Kim) Salisbury; ten great-grandchildren: Elise, Kaitlin, Heyden, Morgan, Cecilia, Lauren, Megan, Jack, Benjamin, and Samuel; and one brother, Archie Serdahl of Baxter, MN.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Meredith in 2003; three brothers: Louie, Milo, and Clifford Serdahl; and sister, Alzada Hanson.
