Mayme Beatrice (Cory) Butler

Montevideo

Mayme Butler of Montevideo, died on Thursday March 14, 1996 at the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson, MN at the age of 89.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday March 18 at 2:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with Rev. Robert Ford officiating.  Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Mayme  Beatrice (Cory) Butler was born on January 25, 1907 in Beatrice, NB to William and Carrie (Headings) Cory, and was one of four children. She graduated from Beatrice High School in 1923 and was  united in marriage to Charles Richardson on June 9, 1924 in Beatrice.  To this union were born 2 daughters - Betty Jean and Jeraldine. She worked as a cashier for Gage Co. Electric Co. in Gage Co, NB and the Council Bluffs Light and Power Co. in Council Bluffs, IA.  She was united in marriage to Virgil Butler on April 20, 1935 in Papillion, NB, and worked with Virgil and Betty Jean at the Civil Air Command in Omaha, NB for a short time.  She cared for her mother for many years and in 1982 she moved to Parkview Tower in Montevideo, MN to be nearer to her  daughter.  For 11 years she enjoyed her independent living and her friends at Parkview Tower.  She has been a resident of the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson since May 3, 1993.

She is survived by a daughter - Jeri Chamberlain and her husband Ted of Montevideo; by a son-in-law - Rex Lesan of  Leon, IA; by grandchildren - Troy Lesan of Lamoni, IA; Wendy Wilson and her husband Jim of Urbandale, IA; Bret Lesan and his wife Marcia of Blue Spings, MO; Lori Vadnais and her husband Leo of Murdock, MN; Al Chamberlain and his wife Cyndy of St. Louis Park, MN; Sara Schultz of Montevideo, MN and Carol Chamberlain of Eagan, MN; 13 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law - Miana Cory of Omaha, NB; as well as by nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her father in 1949 and her mother in 1979, by a daughter - Betty Jean Lesan in 1972; by a brother - Lester Cory; and by two infant brothers.
