Melinda Ellingson, 76, of Montevideo, died Sunday, August 14, 1994 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 18, at 10:30 A.M. at Mandt Lutheran Church. Rev. Gregory Gabriel and Rev. Irwin Van Leeuwen will officiate. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and at the church for one hour before services. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 P.M. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Melinda Kathinka Saterbak was born June 28, 1918 in Big Bend Township, Chippewa County, MN the daughter of Carl and Palma (Mikkelson) Saterbak. She graduated from Milan High School in 1937. Melinda was united in marriage with Joseph B. Ellingson on September 9, 1939 at the Saterbak home. They farmed near Benson for 24 years and near Milan for 7 years. Joseph died October 23, 1987. Melinda has lived in Montevideo since 1989. She was a lifelong member of Mandt Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her eight children: Jerrold Ellingson and his wife Julie of Antioch, CA, JoAnn Cantwell and her husband Jerry of Thornton, CO, Elden Ellingson and his wife Sandra of Antioch, CA, Steven Ellingson and his wife Julie of Pierre, SD, Jean Schwartz and her husband Rich of Blooming Prairie, MN, Jeanette Lecy and her husband Greg of Willmar, MN, Gregory Ellingson and his wife Luetta of Milan, MN, and Loretta Punt and her husband Randy of Montevideo, MN; 15 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Aagot Paulson of Granite Falls, MN, Elna Hanson and her husband Lowell of Montevideo, MN, and Helen Quenemon and her husband Bud of Alexandria, MN; and one brother, Donald Saterbak and his wife Dorothy of Montevideo, MN.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband, Joseph.
