Melissa Castle, of Montevideo, died on Monday, March 17, 2003 at the Hennepin Co Medical Center in Minneapolis at the age of 26.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, March 21, 2003 at 10:30 AM at Big Bend Lutheran Church with Rev. David DeMars officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening and with the family from 6 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Melissa Anne (Gunderson) Castle was born December 17, 1976 at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho the daughter of John and Renay (Keller) Gunderson. She was baptized at the Mountain Home Air Force Base Chapel and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church. She attended school at Appleton, Lac Qui Parle Valley, and graduated with honors from Montevideo High School ALC in 1995. She attended and graduated from Ridgewater College in Willmar with honors. Melissa was united in marriage with Dennis Castle May 26, 2000 at Watertown, SD. They were living in Montevideo. Melissa worked as an LPN at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital and the Granite Falls Hospital. She was an excellent nurse and was currently doing private care. Melissa was a member of Big Bend Lutheran Church. She enjoyed writing poetry and short fiction stories. She liked exercising, shopping, walking, and spending time with her children and family.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis; two children: Hayley Rae Castle and John Robert Castle; her parents, John and Renay Gunderson of Milan, MN; her paternal grandparents, LaVon and Julia Gunderson of Milan, MN; one brother, Douglas Gunderson of Milan, MN; and her in-laws: Robert and Nora Castle of Cross Lake, MN and Karen Castle of Raymond, MN.
Preceding her in death were her maternal grandparents, John and Olga Keller; and one uncle, Thomas Gunderson.
