Melvin Goulson of Montevideo, died on Monday, October 27, 2003 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 87.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, October 30, 2003 at 1:30 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Kathryn Skoglund officiating. Interment will be in the Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening and with the family from 6:30 - 7:30 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Melvin Clifford Goulson was born on May 9, 1916 in Mandt Township of Chippewa Co., MN to Theodore Gustav and Caroline (Myhre) Goulson. He was baptized and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church and attended rural schools. He served in the US Army Air Force from 1942 - 1946, serving in Okinawa and Guam. On April 2, 1959 he was united in marriage to Bernice Zempel at the Jevnaker Lutheran Church. They farmed and continued to live in Mandt Township following his retirement from farming in the late 1970's.. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo and enjoyed fishing and bird watching from a special bird feeder outside of their window.
He is survived by his wife Bernice; a son, Duane Goulson of Rosemount, MN; a granddaughter, Cara Marie Goulson of Rosemount, MN; a brother Helge Goulson and his wife Alice of St. Cloud, MN; 2 sisters: Gladys Zempel and Emma Zempel, both of Montevideo; a sister-in-law, Harriet Goulson of Clara City, MN; brothers-in-law, Clifford Iverson of Benson, MN and Erling Albin of Hanley Falls, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Helen Iverson and Pearl Albin and by a brother, Bernt Goulson.
