Meredith Leavern Molden

Benson

Meredith Molden, of Benson and formerly of the Milan/Big Bend area, died on Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at the Benson Hospital at the age of 81.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, July 19, 2003 at 10:30 AM at the Big Bend Lutheran Church in Big Bend with Rev. David DeMars officiating.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening and with the family from 6 - 8 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Meredith Leavern Molden was born on January 8, 1922 in West Bank Township of Swift County, MN to Selmer and Amanda (Olson) Molden.  He was baptized on February 5, 1922 and confirmed on July 4, 1937 at Big Bend Lutheran Church.  He attended rural schools.  On December 16, 1942 he was united in marriage to Mavis Serdahl at Big Bend Lutheran Church.  They farmed south of Big Bend and east of Milan for many years before retiring and moving into Benson in 1984.  He was a lifelong member of Big Bend Lutheran Church and had served on it’s church council.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working with tools, was creative, enjoyed his neighbors and was the neighborhood repairman while he lived in Benson.

He is survived by his wife, Mavis; three children: Virgene Molden and his wife Linda of St. Cloud, MN, Delmont Molden and his wife Margaret of Tomah, WI, and Julie Ann Salisbury and her husband Reed of Pennock, MN; seven grandchildren: Jon Molden & his wife Shelley; Jennifer Molden; Nicole Nelson and her husband Mike; Angela Pace and her husband Jim; Brock Molden and his wife Ann; Mike Salisbury and Jason Salisbury and his special friend Kim; six great-grandchildren: Elise Molden; Kaitlin Molden; Jack Nelson; Ben Nelson; Lauren Pace; and Megan Pace; two brothers: Ellsworth Molden of Alexandria, MN and Daryles Molden of Milan, MN; one sister, Eileen Larson of Minneapolis; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers: Harris and Warren Molden.
