Michael Anyasike, of Dawson, died Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the Madison Hospital at the age of 18.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 1:30 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Pastor Kendall Stelter and Pastor John Guthridge will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Michael Chinedu Anyasike was born February 4, 1996 in Almaty, Kazakhstan the son of Michael K. and Irene (John) Anyasike. He moved with his family to the United States in 2004. They settled in Tulsa, OK before moving to Dawson, MN in 2007. Michael played basketball when he was younger, he was a sprinter in track, but his main sport was football. He also went on mission trips with his church and his family.
He is survived by his parents, Michael and Irene; a sister, Faith; two brothers: Joseph and Joshua; his grandparents: John and Freda Mkiramweni in Tanzania and Faith Anyasike in Nigeria; aunts and uncles: Kingsley and Kelechi, Helen, Emmanuel and Onyii, Ellen and Steve, Peter and Kharies, Lillian, David and Monique; and numerous cousins.
Preceding him in death were his great-grandparents: Mark and Evelyn, John and Monu, William and Elangwa , and Peter and Sarah; and his grandfather, Marcus Anyasike.
